Why are the fonts on my website smaller when the WP ADA Compliance Plugin is installed?

The WP ADA Compliance Plugin is designed to automatically convert absolute font sizes such as pixels or points to ems or percentages which scale better in older browsers. At one time this was an important accessibility issue but since modern browsers allow absolute font sizes to be scaled this is no longer a problem as long as website text may be zoomed to 200% without loss of functionality. To disable this feature:

  1. From the dashboard menu, choose Web Accessibility > Settings
  2. Click on the Content Filters tab
  3. Look for and disable the option “Convert absolute font sizes found in content to relative units (% or em)”

Disabling absolute font size conversions.

Once deactivated, using your browser, verify that text can be scaled up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
