Enabling Cron Scans on your Website

WP ADA Compliance includes an option to scan your website using WordPress cron. Not only are cron scans a convenient way to locate issues on your website but they use less server resources.

Complete the following steps to enable cron scans on your website:

  1. First ensure that your webiste is configured to execute cron jobs using Apache. Many websites run cron jobs on page loads rather than using an Apache cron job, this will result in slow page loads while the scan is being run. Learn more about this process here.
  2. From your dashboard menu, choose Web Accesessibility > Settings.
  3. Click on the Scan & Notifications tab.
  4. Setting “How many items of each type (posts, terms, widgets etc) should be scanned during each cycle:” to 5 or less.
  5. Look for the option to set the scan frequency and choose the desired frequency. 5, 15 and 30 minute intervals settings should be used to quickly get through a website scan while longer intervals can be used to monitor your website over time.
